Well the cold season is well and truly upon us and bringing all the nasty germs knocking on our doors. We've put together a few tips and tricks to help you keep your home a Germ Free Zone and hopefully keep the nasty bugs at bay.
Firstly, invest in a good aerosol disinfectant. We're big fans of natural products at MS Property Services, and we can't go past Bosisto's Eucalyptus Spray. Glen 20 is another fantastic product. You want to make sure that you're purchasing a disinfectant spray and NOT an air freshener; you need to make sure that your spray will work double time to kill any germs that have been brought into your home. Use to liberally spray bed linen, bags, shoes, toilet area, bathroom and especially light switches and door handles in your home. Obviously don't ingest this product or spray directly onto your food.
It's absolutely crucial that all members of your family regularly wash their hands. Wash after using the bathroom, before eating and regularly throughout the day. Use a quality soap or foaming hand wash, and make sure that all members of your household take their time to properly wash their hands.
Regularly wash your bed linen. Skin cells, bugs, dust mites and all sorts of creepy crawlies LOVE to live in our sheets. Make sure you take the time to regularly clean your bed linen is a great way to stay on top of the nasties living in your home. It's important to invest in a quality mattress liner and to regularly vacuum your mattress to help pull the mites out of the fibres. A good, strong dose of sunlight is a great way to naturally kill germs so get those sheets hanging on the line to bake in the sun.
Another helpful tip is to regularly update your toothbrush. Our mouths are absolute breeding grounds for bacteria, and regularly replacing your toothbrush will help you avoid recycling germs.
Keep on top of your housework. Keeping your home clean and dust free is a great way to prevent the happy infestation of little critters in your home. Make sure to regularly clean your air con filters if you use a split system during the cooler months dust surfaces regularly to avoid build up in your home.
Keep on top of your health. Bugs will have a hard time dragging you down if you have a
healthy, active immune system. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, regular exercise and quality rest will ensure that your body stays at its fighting best. Make sure you visit your doctor for regular check ups and invest in a quality multivitamin if you feel that your daily food intake isn't enough to keep your vitamins and minerals at their best.
We hope you have a fabulous and bug free flu season!
